Visit the Zen Den to enhance your well-being.

Need a quiet, designated spot to take a breather, be mindful, meditate, and relax without interruptions? Visit the Zen Den in the Student Union Skybox Lobby, Student Union 2nd Floor. Relax with the sound of the indoor water fountain and a soothing music background. Monday to Thursday 10:00am-6:00p.m. Use this space to expand your self-awareness and relaxation.

Wellness Check-Ins

Athletics, EOPS, and the Unity Center, have partnered with the Student Health Center to host weekly Wellness Check-Ins for program participants. 

If you are an Athlete, EOPS, Basic Needs, Dream Resource Center, Puente, and or Rainbow Pride Center participant, you have the option to meet and talk openly with a trained, non-judgmental listener about anything that might be going on in your life. 

Check with your program for Days and Times of Service.

A wellness check-in does not require the health fee to be paid. The $19 semester health fee is only applicable, when the student decides to continue seeing a therapist at the student health center.

Domestic Violence is a pattern of abusive behavior that occurs between intimate partners to gain control. It can take the form of physical, sexual, psychological, or economic abuse. Learn about the many forms of domestic violence and get resources to help yourself or someone else.

If you ever wondered if a relationship is a pattern of abusive behavior, Jewish Family Services LA, leader in Domestic Violence Awareness Trainings, will be able to provide information to answer your question(s).

Empowering Breast Health: Early Detection, Screening, and Risk Reduction

Join Everly Woman Counts for an informative and empowering workshop dedicated to enhancing your understanding of breast health. This comprehensive session is designed to provide valuable insights into the importance of early detection, clarifying screening recommendations, and discussing risk reduction strategies. Our team will guide participants through the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and discuss how self-awareness and screening can save lives. We will also share recommendations tailored to various age groups and risk levels. We’ll cover mammography, ultrasound, and other screening methods, explaining how they work, when to start screening, and how often to continue. And finally, we will explore practical strategies for reducing one’s risk of breast cancer. Our session will address lifestyle changes, dietary considerations, and genetic factors that can influence breast health. Learn how to make informed decisions about your health and implement proactive measures to support overall well-being.

Have you ever felt that all you need is a hug? Self-hugging is also beneficial. A hug can provide comfort and release Oxytocin (cuddle hormone). These hugs can help improve your mood, increase self-compassion, and make you feel safe and secure. Join our Butterfly Hug Meditation session. Whether you just want a hug or want to learn more about this anxiety curbing method, all are welcome. Save a virtual hug for me!

With life’s daily stressors, it can be easy to take things for granted. We usually focus on what is to come rather than staying and enjoying the present moment. It can be difficult to find equilibrium and maintaining one’s mental health when focusing on the future. However, re-focusing is not impossible. Several techniques can help improve gratitude and mental health, opening a path to self-confidence. Join us to unpack healthy techniques for gratitude and self-confidence.

Sound Baths or Sound Healing is a form of meditation that can help relieve stress through soothing sounds. The healing sounds are frequencies produced by instruments like Tibetan singing bowls, Crystal Singing Bowls, Rainstick, etc. This practice can help us gain balance, clear mental clutter, and induce a state of calmness and stillness.

Grounding is an effective way to calm anxiety during a panic attack. In the practice of grounding and centering, you identify objects around you to help your brain recognize where you are. This creates a sense of comfort because you know where you're at and you feel more in control of the situation. (The Transformation Center). Learn to focus thoughts away from negative feelings or chaotic moments in life.

Body positivity is a social movement that encourages people to accept and appreciate all bodies, regardless of their size, shape, skin tone, gender, or physical abilities. It can be difficult to know the fine line between appreciation and need for change. Learning to appreciate one's body can be hard. This meditation practice helps us not only accept but also love the bodies we have and not to fixate on the body we wish we had.

Fall 2024 American Red Cross Blood Drives

The American Red Cross Blood Mobile is on campus. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to donate. Blood donors are critically needed due to an emergency blood shortage. Sign up today to make a life-saving donation.

September Events

Student Health Education will showcase backpacks that represent the lives lost to suicide. Each backpack tells the unique stories, interests, and personalities of individuals who have died by suicide. This display aims to foster understanding, empathy, and proactive engagement within our community. It will serve as a space for reflection, heighten awareness, and initiate conversations about the critical significance of mental health and suicide prevention. Honor Beads will be given out.
